A sleep study may be suggested after you meet with the Sleep Medicine Center physician. A sleep study requires that you remain overnight in one of our private sleep rooms at the Center. While you sleep, a technician monitors your sleep patterns in a separate room. Brain and muscle activity, breathing patterns, heart beats, and many other indicators are monitored. The results of your test will be sent to your doctor with our recommendations for appropriate treatment.
A doctor's referral is required for you to seek help and diagnosis at the UH Sleep Medicine Center. It is recommended that you ask your insurance company if sleep testing is covered. The sleep study test is considered an outpatient testing procedure.
