One of the best features of Union Hospital’s free monthly walking program, “Walk With A Doc,” is that it allows area residents to spend some time with physicians from the hospital’s medical staff in a relaxed setting out of the office.
Walkers will be able to hear from and walk with Dr. Jeffrey Burrier, a family physician with the hospital-operated practice of Newcomerstown UPS, at the February Walk With A Doc scheduled this Saturday (Feb. 4) at 9 a.m. at the hospital.
Walkers will meet in the hospital cafeteria, hear a health-related presentation from Dr. Burrier, receive blood-pressure checks, walk with Dr. Burrier and enjoy a healthy snack prepared by the Union Hospital Nutrition Services Department and water. In case of inclement weather, the walk itself will be completed on the hospital’s indoor walking path.
The entire event is free and no registration is necessary.
Dr. Burrier is a Newcomerstown native, a graduate of Newcomerstown High School and has been a family physician in his hometown since 2000. A graduate of Muskingum University who earned his medical degree from Ohio State University’s College of Medicine, Dr. Burrier also joined the U.S. Army Reserve and served his residency at the Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Bragg, NC, before returning home to Tuscarawas County.
Walk With a Doc is a national non-profit organization with a mission to encourage healthy physical activity in people of all ages, and reverse the consequences of a sedentary lifestyle in order to improve the health and well-being of the country. Future walk dates will be announced by the hospital and on the Walk With a Doc website at http://walkwithadoc.org/our-locations/dover-ohio/.
Other healthcare professionals, public officials and others will be part of upcoming walks.
